Today, Jamal is an independent wedding singer by the name of 'Shane The Golden Voice' and is often booked for special and private engagements.
Without any personal training, Jamal trained his own voice and taught himself how to sing and do acrobatic vocal dynamics at the age of 12 by making the "baa-ing" sounds of sheep. He would spend hours baa-ing fast and slow in different octaves until mastering his vocal control while singing. At the age of 14, he started humming tunes, writing songs and recording them thus creating a song database containing over 300 songs and lyrics to date. Favorite singers who are heavy influences vocally are Whitney Houston and Luther Vandross. He is often referred to by friends and family as the Male Whitney Houston due to his range and soulful vocal abilities that sometimes mimic his idol, Whitney!
